Officers in Hartford County responded to the Berlin Turnpike southbound in Wethersfield near Pawtucket Avenue at about 8:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2, after receiving multiple reports about the crash, the Wethersfield Police Department reported.
The pedestrian was found lying in the road suffering from serious injuries and was taken to Hartford Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead, police said.
Police did not release her age or identity.
Preliminary investigation indicated that the victim was struck by the vehicle while crossing the street, police said.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, authorities said.
The Mid-State Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash.
